Maintaining good oral health is important for maintaining a great quality of life. To aid in this endeavor, the American Dental Association recommends that you brush and floss your teeth twice per day and attend a regular dental checkup twice each year. Every dental check performed by Dr. Ghina Morad examines and addresses the multiple facets needed to maintain your oral health for years to come.

The first phase of the checkup involves one of our dental hygienists performing a thorough dental cleaning. This is designed to remove all traces of hardened tartar from your teeth, while also polishing away surface stains. Through the course of the cleaning, the hygienist will also keep an eye out for signs of tooth decay and gum disease.

Dr. Ghina Morad will give special attention to any trouble spots the hygienist may have noticed. If there are cavities, signs of gum disease or other issues, our team will help you understand your treatment options. Then the dentist will perform a basic cancer screening, examining your mouth, neck and tongue for signs of oral or pharyngeal cancer.

If your teeth have shown any signs of weakened enamel, the dentist might recommend a basic fluoride treatment. This will fortify the microscopic mineral crystals from which tooth enamel is made.

If you’re due for your next dental checkup, you should call our dental office in San Carlos, California, at (650)592-6396 to schedule an appointment. We’ll look forward to serving you.
